People often ask us what we do and how our services can help them. In order to truly understand this, let me take you on a quick journey about how we ended up doing the things we do.
The Background Story
At the point of SageFlow's inception, I had been working in the Consulting industry for over 10 years in a variety of different Leadership roles across various continents. While I enjoyed the work I did, trends were forming around me that I just could not ignore.
As with nearly all consulting practices, the value proposition we used to offer was very one directional, i.e. from us to them. We sold product or service x and we were looking for interested parties that could benefit from the product or service we were offering. Our main focus was on developing the best product or service and not really the clients we were serving. As you can imagine, this became a real hit and miss operation, as not everyone saw the benefit of implementing our product or service into their business.
The next main challenge was a lack of exclusivity. In many respects, you could compare our business practices, and those of most of our competitors, to those of a fish monger at the Sunday markets. We would sell our products and services to whomever wanted to buy them and were oblivious to how our products or services made a difference in our clients' lives or how it truly added value to them. Even though a lot of people within the Consulting industry might disagree with this statement, they know that when it really comes down to it, they would sell their products or services even when they know it would not add a great amount of value to the customer.
The Start of Something Great
Based on the points mentioned above, I was determined to start a Consulting practice that would focus on the two most critical aspects for any true Consulting organisation: exclusivity & scarcity.
People often ask me: "how come you are not a multi-million dollar company yet?" and my answer is always the same: "because that is not why we are in business".
The reason why we do the things we do is because we are passionate about truly adding lasting value to our client organisations in a way that it makes a sustainable difference in their lives and / or that of their customers. We do not just sell our services and walk away, we build strong partnership relationships to ensure that our products and services provide the value our clients expect.
You might think that this is the type of slogan that you can expect from other consulting practices as well.
The secret lies in the application of this slogan.
We are extremely selective in who we do business with and we only do business with people or organisations who are truly passionate about what they do and how they want to change the status quo.
This is the reason why we have had the pleasure of working together with organisations from a creative merchandising organisation that is changing the way their customers look at promoting their business, to an international Oil & Gas contracting organisation that changed the way in which major Energy companies think about labour hire, training & competency development of their staff.
Other client organisations range from the passionate employees at a very special employment agency that is working tirelessly to provide employment to people with a disability, to a global, multi-billion dollar organisation that reinvests all of their earnings back into their business to further their cause of making the world a safer place.
Being able to tell people that we have contributed anything to these types of organisations is why we are in business and why we are so proud of what we do and what we stand for.
Our coaching and mentoring offering to individuals follows the same inherent belief. We only want to work with people who are determined to make a change in their lives or aspire to something greater.
When you work with organisations or individuals who are passionate about what they do, they are the ones who will make a true difference in other people's lives.
This is exactly why we are in business ourselves and why we only want to do business with organisations and people matching these criteria.
As part of the blog posts, we will regularly share valuable insights into a number of different business areas that will guide you through the deep, sometimes dark waters of business & success.
